Laing joins Hitachi in intercity trains deal bid

Hitachi has formed a consortium with John Laing Projects and Developments and Barclays Private Equity to bid for the contract to supply Intercity Express Trains.

The move was widely seen as a further indication of the risk and complexity of the project which Hitachi had previously been bidding for on its own.
