Along with many others I was saddened to learn of the death of Paul Withrington (Obituary LTT 22 Jan). Too many of the generation of engineers and planners who started their careers with the Greater London Council, as I was fortunate enough to do under the aegis of the late Ken Huddart (Obituary LTT 05 Feb), are currently leaving for the great traffic control centre in the sky.
