Private finance is to be used to widen most of the remaining three lane sections of the M25 to four lanes in each direction, the Highways Agency announced this week.
The private sector will be asked to design, build, finance and operate (DBFO) four sections of the road that were added to the Government's road programme last April, following the M25 Multi-Modal Study (LTT 22 Apr 04). They are:
* Jct 5 to 7 (M26-M23/Redhill) 17km
* Jct 16 to 23 (M40-A1(M)) 35km
* Jct 23 to 27 (A1(M)-M11) 27km
