Commonwealth Games coach fleet plan to minimise strike disruption

The Government has set aside more than £4m to fund a fleet of coaches during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The fleet, which will offer a nationwide service, is part of contingency plans to minimise disruption if there are further rail strikes. 

More than a million people are expected to converge on Birmingham for the Games, which take place from 28 July to 8 August. It has emerged that negotiations with several transport operators are underway to secure rail replacement...
