Bus operators peeved by the recent decision by the Office of Fair Trading to refer local bus services to the Competition Commission may want to take a leaf from Ryanair’s book.

Last month, the airline released one million £4 ‘Fingleton Fares’, named after John Fingleton, the chief executive of the OFT, to prove the airline is “the best thing to happen to the British consumer since sliced bread”.

Ryanair made the move after the competition chief blasted the low cost airline for its ‘misleading’ advertising of fares and credit card charges.

Fingleton bus fares anyone?
