Transport secretary Lord Adonis has pledged his all-out support for the ‘green’ transport agenda and, in doing so, confirmed the death of the ‘modal agnosticism’ advocated by the Government’s former transport advisor Sir Rod Eddington.

In a speech to the Labour Party conference in Brighton last week, Adonis took a swipe at Sir Rod’s approach, subsequently endorsed by the DfT, that the Government should favour no mode over any other.
