The Vélib’ is a network of over 20,000 bikes available for hire at automated docking stations throughout the centre of Paris. It has proved so popular with residents and tourists, that similar models have now been adopted in many cities, including the Barclays cycle hire scheme in London.

Both the London and Paris bikes are fully integrated into the public transport system, and provide a flexible service to help solve the “last mile” issue with fixed public transport....
