It is ironical that you published Garrett Emmerson's article "Is the era of cheap energy coming to an end?" (LTT 2 Nov) on almost the same day that the DfT published the report on the future of the Luton-Dunstable rail track (see page 3).

The DfT has given its support to the Inspector's recommendation that the rails on this 12-kilometre alignment should be ripped up and replaced with a guided busway, rather than being used for an Ultra Light Rail (ULR) system, as proposed in evidence...
