What the council describes as a “trackless tram” system is to be trialled on bus routes in Hertfordshire. The Hertfordshire Essex Rapid Transit (HERT) vehicle is an electric bus that has the appearance of a tram. The council plans to test the Irizar ie-tram vehicle along highway sections throughout the HERT route between Croxley and St Albans, and between Hemel Hempstead and Harlow.
