A single, integrated rail and bus ticket has been launched to encourage use of public transport in the northern Lake District.
The ticket will cover TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast services to and from Penrith rail station and Stagecoach’s connecting X4 and X5 bus service to Keswick.
The ticket has been made a permanent offer following trials over the past two summers. The train and bus operators said that during the trials passenger numbers “surged”.
