Freight group concerns over gaps in new electrification plan for East West Rail

East West Rail is now proposing to electrify most of the planned railway between Oxford and Cambridge, but the gaps that will remain between electrified sections are a matter of concern for freight interests.

EWR has embarked on a new consultation over the future railway, drawing on insights from its consultations in 2019, 2021 and 2024. The consultation closes on 9 June.

Electrification was included in the initial plans to reconstruct the railway, but was removed from the scope in 2017....
