Supermarket plans to raise flood-risk car park

Supermarket chain plans to raise part of a car park in West Sussex to prevent it being flooded.

Tesco has applied to Arun District Council for permission raise some spaces in the car park of its superstore on Shripney Road in West Sussex by 2 metres (6.5 feet).

The plans, submitted to, say that the total number of spaces will also be reduced.

The store had to close in November 2023 due to flooding. When it did re-open, it was for walk-in customers only as the car park was still under wate...
