Minister Skates ticks off predecessor Waters for raising Cardiff Parkway funding issue

Welsh Transport Secretary Ken Skates gave his predecessor, Lee Waters, a ticking off for asking how much public money will be spent on Cardiff Parkway station, a project which was originally to be privately funded.

The station, east of Cardiff, is envisaged as having four platforms, long enough to accommodate London Paddington trains. In 2017 it had a £30m cost estimate, which quickly increased to £120m in 2020. Inflation since then has been rapid,  especially for construction...
