Scotland’s £2 bus fare cap begins amid council concern over reimbursement

Scotland’s £2 bus fare cap pilot is due to roll out on 23 March, but one local authority in the pilot area is undecided on whether its services should be included.

The Scottish Government committed to a Regional Bus Fare Cap Pilot in its 2025/26 budget. After an Expression of Interest process, it chose to work with the HiTrans and ZetTrans Regional Transport Partnerships to deliver the pilot in Highland,  Moray, Argyll & Bute, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.
