Scottish political parties urged to introduce e-scooter laws

Scotland’s political parties should commit to passing legislation allowing public access to shared e-scooters for the first time, said shared transport charity CoMoUK.

E-scooter hire schemes are currently the only legal way to ride e-scooters on public roads in the UK, with trials running in towns and cities in England since 2020.

However, Scotland has so far not passed its own laws – both primary and secondary legislation is needed for e-scooter hire schemes.
