Transport for London (TfL) has hired Kate Broome to the new Director of Environment & Sustainability.
Broome will join TfL on 1 June 2026, reporting to TfL’s Chief Safety, Health and Environment Officer, Lilli Matson.
The new role is designed to help ensure TfL succeeds in achieving its green ambitions, including those set out in its Corporate Environment Plan. These include targets to decarbonise TfL’s operations, deliver broader sustainability outcomes across the business, protect TfL’s natural assets, reduce waste and support Mayoral green initiatives, such as delivering clean and healthy waterways.
The role will also see Broome support activity across the Greater London Authority on key issues of environmental performance and sustainability across London.
Broome was most recently at global logistics business Kuehne & Nagel driving decarbonisation, fleet electrification and culture change as Sustainability and Social Impact Director.
Before that she served as Sustainability Director at FirstGroup, shaping commercially focused strategies across bus and rail operations in the UK and North America. She began her career at Network Rail.
