The Scottish Government has removed peak season fares for residents of Orkney and Shetland on Northern Isles ferries.
As part of the Scottish Budget for 2026/27, £1.8m will be invested in the ferry services, currently run by Serco NorthLink, to reduce fares for islanders to low season rates.
Transport Scotland said it will work with the operator on the detail and timing of the change, which will be confirmed in due course.
