Piccadilly line renewal costs rise above £3bn budget

Transport for London (TfL) has admitted that its new fleet of Piccadilly line trains is likely to exceed the existing £3bn budget.

Last month TfL’s Programmes and Investment Committee said the final amount would be higher than estimated due to “cost pressures”.

The committee said the revised estimated financial cost would be revealed at its next meeting on 5 March.
