Enfield Council has been given permission by the DfT and Transport for London (TfL) to implement the capital’s first lane rental scheme.
The scheme will see companies such as utility firms charged for carrying out roadworks on the busiest sections of the borough’s road network at peak times.
The north London borough says the aim of the scheme is to reduce disruption caused by street works, encourage better planning and promote quicker completion of essential works.
