Spending £3m on £3 – DfT asks Ernst & Young for fare cap exit plan

Consultancy Ernst & Young have been given a £3m contract by the Department for Transport for what is called “support the strategic and operational delivery of the £3 National Bus Fare Cap scheme and in preparing an eventual exit strategy from the scheme.”

It is not clear what the considerable price tag will secure for the government in running the scheme beyond the activity already undertaken on it by the DfT. The description “eventual exit strategy”...
