The Senedd has passed the Bus Services (Wales) Bill, but Welsh Transport Secretary Ken Skates has warned of possible cuts to bus services before franchising is rolled out. The Government’s flagship TrawsCymru services could be reduced, as well as Fflecsi demand-responsive transport.

The new legislation goes further than its English and Scottish equivalents in placing a new duty on ministers to promote and provide bus services. There was concern among many MSs that the legislation gave too...
