Majority want 20mph to be urban speed limit, TfN survey finds

A survey by Transport for the North (TfN) shows that 58% of respondents supported changing the national urban speed limit to 20mph, with particularly strong backing for reduced speeds near schools.

While most respondents felt the speed limit on their own street was appropriate, those living on 20mph roads were the most satisfied (88%), compared with 68% on 30mph roads and 65% on 40mph roads.
