Chief Medical Officer for England Professor Chris Whitty has been made an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT).
CIHT believes that, as an Honorary Fellow, Whitty will be able to lend his voice, influence, and advocacy to its work in active travel and public health. Whitty is the UK Government’s Chief Medical Adviser and head of the public health profession.
Mitesh Solanki President, CIHT said: “The Honorary Fellowship is CIHT’s most senior grade of Membership, and our Council has awarded it to Professor Whitty who has an exceptional record and really is making the link between transport and health. CIHT recognises that Professor Whitty is an influential figure, who is advocating the role of transport and specifically active travel as an important solution in tackling the health inequality agenda.”
