Is transport pulling its weight? Reflections on the Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan

Professor Greg Marsden has been closely following the development of the Carbon reduction policies relating to transport of the previous and current governments. He provides LTT readers with his take on the latest plan.

The Government’s whole economy Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan (CBGDP) ought to give us a steer on what it is expecting from the transport sector in delivering the decarbonisation pathway to the end of the 6th Carbon Budget. But it is pretty opaque on that matter. This plan follows two previous attempts which were both thrown out in the courts for being insufficient, and the Government now seems to have learnt that being too specific is best avoided.
