Wales expands travel discounts for young people and families

Wales has further expanded the discounted travel available to young people and families.

From 3 November until August 2026, children aged 5-15 can travel on Welsh buses for a £1 single fare or a £3 day ticket, bringing this age group into line with 16-21-year-olds. Initially the Welsh Government intended to limit the pilot fare offer to the older age group, but opposition politicians pointed out that this would result in children paying more for bus journeys than young adults.
