The Bon VoyCharge campaign advocates for more charging points at places where drivers naturally dwell – like hotels, tourist attractions and leisure venues.

Bon VoyCharge champions the idea that charging should be an integrated, seamless part of the journey, not a separate task. By ensuring chargers are available at the end point of a journey, the campaign makes sustainable travel easier and more attractive for everyone.

The campaign was created by BVRLA is the UK trade body for companies engaged in vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management.

The BVRLA and EV mapping company Zapmap met at Stourhead National Trust in Somerset to highlight examples of destination charging.

The event highlighted the fantastic sustainability efforts at sites like Stourhead National Trust, including its upcoming solar installation and sustainably managed biomass energy production in its efforts towards net zero.

The meeting, attended by Dr Andrew Murrison, MP for South West Wiltshire, then addressed the critical role of destination charging in building a robust and reliable public charging network, emphasising how destination charging can support the wider UK electric vehicle transition.

Karl Wightman, public affairs manager at the BVRLA, said: “It is encouraging to see such great examples of destination charging. This gives drivers the confidence to visit fantastic locations such as Stourhead, who themselves, also benefit as more people will choose to make the journey there.”

Stourhead National Trust, renowned for its magnificent landscape garden, is not just preserving history but also embracing the future. Its commitment to sustainability is evident in their progressive approach to EV charging infrastructure.

The site’s charging is provided by RAW Charging. The main car park features ten 22kW Type 2 connectors. Stourhead is the first National Trust site to offer ultra-rapid charging, offering four 150kW CCS and 4 x 300kW CCS connectors.

All of RAW's chargepoints can easily be found and paid for directly in the Zapmap app, or with the tap of the Zapmap charging card.

Phillip Niemand, general manager of Stourhead & Mompesson estate, National Trust, said: “We’re incredibly proud that Stourhead is leading the way as the first large National Trust property working towards fully decarbonising our in-hand emissions. This is a huge ambition, and it’s only possible thanks to strong partnerships with like-minded organisations such as BVRLA and Zapmap, who share our commitment to sustainability.

“Together, we’re not only protecting our heritage but also shaping a cleaner, greener future for everyone who visits Stourhead.”
