Rail operator c2c Railway reports it has seen a rise in commuter travel since launching Pay as you Go contactless ticketing in February.
It says that passenger volumes have recovered to over 80% of pre-2020 levels despite working from home trends. Season tickets, which previously accounted for over 40% of c2c journeys in 2019, now represent only around 15%.
Passengers are opting for the flexibility off-peak daily tickets, reflecting the shift in working patterns in the UK, said the operator....
