BTP stops investigating bike thefts outside two-hour timeframe

The theft of bikes outside stations will no longer be investigated outside of a timeframe of two hours because of the time-consuming nature of checking CCTV footage, say the British Transport Police (BTP). However, it refuted press reports  suggesting that bike theft had been decriminalised.

“When we do not have a clear time or location for the offence, or if there is a lack of CCTV, witnesses or other evidence, it can be very difficult to solve a crime.”
