Skates wants 20mph critics on steering board for evaluation

The Welsh Government has commissioned an independent evaluation of the 20mph default speed limit introduced in Wales in September 2023, and Transport Secretary Ken Skates wants people who previously criticised the policy to have a role on the steering board.

Statistical analysis by campaign group 20’s Plenty recently showed that 882 fewer people had been injured in road accidents, and 14 fewer had died, since the default speed limit was reduced from 30mph.
