Aberdeen stockpiles LEZ revenue from first year to bolster scheme’s future

Aberdeen City Council will retain most of its revenue from the first year of Low Emission Zone charges to cover future operation of the LEZ.

Enforcement of the LEZ began on 1 June 2024. The surplus from Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) which had been paid by the end of March 2025 was £669,000. This can be used for additional projects that meet the LEZ objectives.
