National Highways ‘zero harm’ target slips by decade to 2050

The draft RIS3 confirms that National Highways has been allowed to move its 2040 zero harm target by a decade. By this target nobody should be killed or seriously injured on England’s Strategic Road Network (SRN).

National Highways met its RIS1 target of a 40% reduction in the number of people killed and seriously injured on the SRN, compared with a 2005 - 2009 baseline, the draft document notes. However, progress towards a “stretch target” of a 50% reduction for the RIS2...
