The Welsh Government has made numerous changes to its post-Sloman Review roads policy in an update to WelTAG, its transport appraisal guidance.
Three of the four tests for road schemes, which the government introduced following the review in February 2023, have been amended. Road schemes will now be funded if they “increase capacity where it can be justified by using one of the four purposes and showing there is no better alternative”.
