The lowering of speeds limits from 30mph to 20mph at 127 locations across the Scottish Highlands have been made permanent following a trial. The Highland Council said that all the roads included in the final Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) follow technical assessments, discussions with members, community councils and the public.

None of the 20mph limits are enforced by fixed camera. A Highland Council spokesperson told LTT: “There is a mixture of flashing signs and speed control measures...
