FirstGroup has re-stated its aim of turning Lumo into a nationwide open access passenger rail operation, although the UK Government’s stance on open access is confused and increasingly negative.
First announced last week that it had secured leases with Eversholt Rail on five trains, currently used by East Midlands Railway, for the Lumo open access service between London Euston and Stirling. It aims to start the service next year.
