Moray Council ends lease on erosion-threatened car park

Moray Council has decided to end its lease on a surface car park at Lossiemouth West Beach due to rising sea levels and coastal erosion.

The car park lies between Moray Golf Club and the Moray Firth shoreline. 

The council leases the site from Spynie Farms. The lease expires in January 2027.

Technical assessments had confirmed that the site was increasingly at risk from coastal erosion, flooding and sea level rise. By 2050, it is projected that the site will fall within an area of active...
