Former elected Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson is one of 12 people charged in a probe into council corruption. He faces charges of bribery, misconduct in a public office and conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office, said Merseyside Police.
Anderson became a Labour councillor in 1998, went on to be elected Mayor of Liverpool in 2012, and won a second term in 2016.
