Bus fare cap in Greater Manchester to stay at £2 despite Government’s national increase

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has pledged to retain the £2 cap for single bus journeys in the region despite the Government’s decision to increase the cap to £3 next year. Bus fares in the region would remain at the current rate “for the whole of 2025 but subject to a mid-year review”, said Burnham.

Greater Manchester is on time and budget to take public control of all bus services in the region early in the new year, he said.
