The Supreme Court’s judgment in the Horse Hill oil extraction case could have implications for airport expansion schemes, and potentially other transport projects, according to leading environmental lawyers.

Surrey County Council was found to have acted unlawfully when it gave planning consent for expansion of oil production at Horse Hill, near Horley, without having taken into account the effect that the eventual burning of the oil would have on the climate.
