An application fee is to be introduced for Northern Ireland’s Translink SmartPass, which gives those over 60 free travel on any bus or rail service in Northern Ireland. The fee, which is expected to be about £20, will apply to 60-64 year olds and first-time applicants over 65.
A Department for Infrastructure spokesperson said it was necessary to introduce a fee to “help protect the Scheme and manage costs”.
