London traffic noise map is first step towards nationwide coverage

A road traffic noise map for Greater London has been published by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The map represents the first part of a Government initiative to map noise from roads, railways, aircraft and industrial premises across England. This is an integral part of the Government's ambient noise strategy that is due to be developed by 2007.
