The Welsh 20mph default speed limit has already saved lives since its introduction in September, former transport minister Lee Waters said last month as the Senedd debated a petition calling for “the disastrous 20mph law” to be rescinded.
The petition was signed by almost 470,000 people. Waters said it was no surprise that nearly a quarter of the signatories were from North Wales. Local authorities there excepted smaller percentages of their restricted roads from the 20mph limit...
