Birmingham council axes separate transport cabinet role

The role of Cabinet Member for Transport at Birmingham City Council is being scrapped as part of the local authority’s plan to “merge portfolios”. Cllr Liz Clements is to lose the role she has held for the past as it becomes reintegrated back into a general transport and environment brief that also includes waste and parks, held by Cllr Majid Mahmood.

The decision to scrap the role was taken by council leader, Cllr John Cotton, and deputy leader Cllr Sharon.
