People on low incomes are put off taking up cycling because of concerns over bike security, research by Sustrans has shown.
The charity’s Walking and Cycling Index – a nationwide survey of walking, wheeling and cycling – found only 40% of residents on low incomes had access to a cycle, compared with 59% in professional occupations.
