Canterbury targets modal shift to beat congestion

A new quality partnership in Kent has targeted a 3%/year increase in bus patronage for ten years and is aiming to ensure 20% of journeys of two-thirds of a mile and over are made by bus.

The agreement, between Kent County Council, Canterbury City Council and Stagecoach, is designed to meet the objectives of the city council's transport action plan, which stiplulates that modal shift is needed to address congestion.
