Sharon Kindleysides has become acting head of the Bus Centre of Excellence. Her appointment follows the departure of James Ford who took the post in June 2023.
Kindleysides said the Centre is focussing on topics such as Floating Bus Stops, accessibility and equality on public transport.
“We will also be creating resources to support local authorities with their Bus Service Improvement Plans in the near future,” she said.
The Centre was formed as a DfT initiative with the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) as the host institution.
Development of a Bus Centre of Excellence was first mooted in the National Bus Strategy for England in 2021. On its launch the Centre said its mission was to deliver “a long-term programme of activities and support” for the sector, and work to improve bus services in England.
