Larger rail fares increase in Scotland than in England, Wales still to decide

The Scottish Government will increase rail fares by 8.7% this spring, while fares controlled by the UK Government will rise by 4.9%.

For many years, the annual price increase for season tickets and other tickets which are regulated by governments was linked to the Retail Price Index of the previous July. In response to concerns about inflation and the cost of living, governments have more recently chosen lower increases.
