The Government has awarded £150m to support bus services “in every part of the Midlands and North of England” in what, it says, will be the first tranche of £1bn worth of funding.
This forms part of the Network North plan announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the Conservative Party conference last month with the £36bn saved from scrapping the northern leg of HS2. Other funding allocations will be announced “in due course”, said the DfT.
