Signs on buses encouraging people to acknowledge drivers led to more interaction, according to a study by Transport for London (TfL) and the University of Sussex.
The study found that while 84% of passengers believed that a gesture of acknowledgment had a positive impact for drivers, just two in 10 greet a driver when boarding and less than one in 10 offer thanks when alighting.
