All residential streets in Cornwall to get 20mph limit by 2026

Cornwall County Council has approved plan to reduce the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on all residential streets by 2026. The authority plans to spend £3.8m on installing new 20mph signs in all residential areas.

The plan to introduce a 20mph default limit was a manifesto pledge for the Conservatives in Cornwall in the 2021 council elections. Since then, a pilot scheme has been operated in Falmouth, Penryn and Camelford.
