Network Rail believes that it has reduced the unit costs of station platforms, bridges and footbridge lifts since it planned the new station at Soham, Cambridgeshire.

The £18.6m station, funded by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, opened in December. The platform is long enough for a four-car train.
